Sublime Posts Barney's Cremaster 3

Sublime Films has completed post-production on the final installment of Mathew Barney's Cremaster series. The film is not only the longest high definition feature produced, but also is the first 24P feature to be edited completely on the desktop (...).

Cremaster 3 was shot 24P using the Sony F900 CineAlta camera by director of photography Peter Strietmann. Christopher Seguine, founder of Sublime, used CinewaveHD and PowerMac G4s to edit the feature. It was then mastered on D5-HD and transferred to 35mm Vision Premiere stock using the Arri laser recorder.

Editing and effects for the film - as well as the five short videos for the museum installation - were completed at Sublime Films. Sublime had to invent technology and techniques to contend with the massive amount of storage necessary to edit a 3-hour high definition film.

Sublime added 3 terabytes of Ultra160 raid storage as well as several more dual-processor G4s to their arsenal of gear in order to complete the project.
